Korbit adds Litecoin (LTC) and is Verge (XVG) coming to Canadian exchange CornField?

Korbit, one of the most established South Korean exchanges, added Litecoin trading this week. The move was applauded by Litecoin founder Charlie Lee who called on Gemini to do the same. Gemini is the last remaining of the major exchanges to not offer a Litecoin option.

Gemini, founded by the Winklevoss twins, provides the Bitcoin prices used by the Cboe exchange to settle their Bitcoin futures contracts. So far it only offers trading pairs between US dollars, ETH and BTC. The Winklevoss brothers suggested last month that they were eyeing Litecoin as the next trading option for Gemini customers.

Verge to CoinField?

Vancouver-based crypto exchange CoinField has just announced that it will be adding at least 10 new coins to its trading platform. According to the exchange, the “majority of the new coins will be available for trade in Canada for the first time”. However, it will not be releasing the list until May.

According to CEO Babak Bob Ras, the exchange is “fully aware which coins are the most desirable by Canadian crypto community” and that is his team is working “around the clock to bring these new coins in Canada for the first time”. However, staying mindful of securities regulations meant that they had to “analyze and evaluate the coins to make sure the ones we are listing are ‘commodities’ as we do not list any ‘securities’ on our platform.”

CoinField already offers its Canadian customers the ability to trade Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dash, Ripple (XRP), Ethereum (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC). Considering the largest currencies by market cap, this would suggest that they are considering EOS, Cardano, Stellar, IOTA and Monero, among others. It also opens up the possibility that the exchange may be considering adding Verge (XVG), which is currently difficult to acquire in Canada.

Rumours yesterday that Binance was looking to add XVG and XRP as trading pairs against the US Dollar were squashed by the intervention of CEO Changpeng Zhao. Though the exchange was “working with banks (to support fiat)”, he said,  there were “no plans for USD in the short term”. What’s more, XVG and XRP would not be involved, at least in the near term.

New Exchange Listings for Tron (TRX) and Cardano (ADA) though Ripple (XRP) and Verge (XRG) will have to wait

Tron and Cardano, two cryptocurrencies building considerable momentum and buzz, received good news this week with both scoring new exchange listings. Unfortunately for Ripple and Verge, rumours that Binance would add the option to trade XRP and XVG for fiat were proved unfounded.

In a strong sign of Tron’s increasing reach, Canada’s Einstein Exchange added TRX today. The Vancouver-based operation describes itself as “Canada’s fastest growing digital currency exchange” and added Golem’s GLM and 0x’s ZRX in addition to TRX.

Tron plans to “construct a global free content entertainment system”, where individuals can use Tron’s blockchain to “freely publish, store, and own data”. Earlier in the week it consolidated its appeal in Asia when it was added to WazirX, “India’s most trusted Bitcoin exchange”.

Cardano (ADA) has also made progress in the last few days, being added to CoinSwitch, an aggregator which partners with exchanges like KuCoin and Bittrex to allow its customers to access the best price without having to open separate accounts at each exchange.

That news came after Binance announced that it had added new Cardano trading pairs to the exchange. As of this week it is possible to trade ADA for BNB, the exchange’s Binance Coin, or Tether (USDT).

Binance not ready for XRP or XVG for USD trades

Earlier today there were rumours that Binance would add the option to convert XRG and XRP for USD. However, these were quashed by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao who tweeted that though they were “working with banks (to support fiat)” there were “no plans for USD in the short term”. Also, there would be “no XVG or XPR [presumably he meant XRP] involved

Though disappointed with the news, some of the VergeFam appreciated the way it was handled by Zhao, especially as many are still sore from the recent Verge-Ledger kerfuffle.

COSS.IO to Introduce FIAT Trading by the end of April

In a post to its community today, Crypto One-Stop Solution exchange (COSS.IO) has announced that there has been some significant development in particular on the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) process required to offer FIAT trading pairs as service.

The team further commented:

We are ready to push KYC to test. As stated before, KYC has to be ready before FIAT, so the plan is to have KYC up and running a few days before FIAT to allow our KYC department some lead time to approve applications.”

It is understood that KYC and FIAT trading will be online by the end of April.

The announcement further went on to explain that first FIAT currency pairs would include: USD/BTC, USD/ETH, USD/LTC and USD/COSS. Once the trial has passed as is successful, the exchange will also introduce EUR and GBP pairings.

Furthermore, FIAT trading will first be in a 60 days deposit promo “mode” and every user who makes a successful deposit of minimum $1000 USD will receive additional $10 USD credit for that period.

Binance Has Listed Privacy-Focused CloakCoin

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced today that it has added a listing for CloakCoin.

The announcement has confirmed that CLOAK will be available for trade in BTC and ETH pairings.

With an issue date going back to 2014, CloakCoin was one of the first cryptocurrencies to introduce total privacy as the focus of its future development.

CloakCoin is designed to facilitate private, secure, decentralized and untraceable transfers with CloakCoin-ENIGMA.

ENIGMA is a private and secure transaction system that lets CloakCoin users set the parameters of their security according to their privacy needs.

Many users already compare ENIGMA to the Wraith Protocol released by Verge (XVG) in January this year.

Another distinct feature of ClockCoin is its low circulating supply of just over 5M. For the past 7 days, CLOAK has registered over 103% growth but is still far from its all-time high of $35 USD. Currently, CLOAK is priced at $14.54 USD up almost 20% for the past 24h.

It is without a doubt an interesting move by Binance as privacy coins such as Monero (XMR) and Verge (XVG) have gained significant attention in the past 6 months with the industry, business’ and individuals looking for ways to transfer funds around the globe privately.
